Saddleback United Raises Over $1000
For The Mia Hamm Foundation

Saddleback United families came out in large numbers to watch the 2nd Annual Mia Hamm Celebrity Soccer Challenge at The Home Depot Center on January 17. The event organized by Mia and her husband Nomar Garciaparra raises money and generates awareness for bone marrow disorders; and encourages attendees to register with the National Bone Marrow Registry.

With beautiful weather, Saddleback families enjoyed watching Joy “compete” with former teammates and celebs as the kids scrambled for autographs and pictures. The game was highlighted by a game-winning golden goal strike by Nomar in overtime (set up by Joy of course).

But the real show-stopper was the half time presentation where Mia and Nomar introduced for the first time bone marrow recipients to the donors that saved their lives. There was not a dry eye in the house.

In addition to a great time, Saddleback United families contributed over $1,000 to Mia’s foundation. The money will be used to support her foundations efforts to build awareness, fund research and assist families in dealing with bone marrow disorders.
