GIRLS U14 TEAM SERVES DINNER AND DONATES TO "FRIENDSHIP SHELTER”

Players from Saddleback’s GU14 team, Coach Katie Frattone, and several parent volunteers were “Chefs for a Night” at the Friendship Shelter in Laguna Beach.  Friendship Shelter is a homeless shelter that supports 38 men and women through a 60 day self-sufficiency program by providing a home, 3 meals daily and a wide range of other support services. Residents are expected to work or be seeking work, save money and develop skills to rebuild their lives.  Saddleback players helped prepare a healthy and delicious roasted chicken dinner accompanied with steamed vegetables, garden salad and homemade corn bread muffins with cranberries. The girls had lots of fun while rubbing elbows together in the kitchen... it was true teamwork! Collectively, the team also pulled resources and were able to donate dozens of much needed hygiene items and many bags of gently used clothing items. To witness the smiles and joy on the faces of the team and the men and women they served was a remarkable experience for all.
